Inmate killed at McCormick prison
An inmate was killed at one of the state’s high security prisons Sunday.
The male prisoner, who has not been identified pending notification of next of kin, was killed during a clash with another inmate at McCormick Correctional Institution in McCormick, said Dexter Lee, spokesman for the Department of Corrections.
The incident triggered a lockdown of the institution.
Other details, including how the inmate was killed, were not available Sunday night.
Agency officials have not announced an arrest in the killing, and the investigation is still ongoing.
