Trailer filled with tools, supplies for disaster relief stolen during Hurricane Matthew
An organization aiding in disaster relief had a trailer filled with tools and supplies stolen from its property during Hurricane Matthew, and deputies are asking for the public’s help in finding the suspects.
Three suspects were at the 2700 block of Shop Road at the South Beltline Gills Creek Community Relief Foundation Oct. 8 and reportedly stole a 1997 20-foot Hallmark trailer, according to a news release from the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.
The suspects reportedly cut the lock to the organization’s gate and entered the property.
Surveillance video from the scene shows the suspects driving away with the trailer attached.
The trailer contained about $10,000 worth of tools and supplies that were meant to help disaster relief victims, the release stated.
Anyone with information about the suspects can contact Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC, www.sccrimestoppers.com or text “TIPSC” plus the message to CRIMES (274637). People who leave tips that lead to an arrest can receive up to $1,000 in reward money.
