Fairfield sheriff investigating high-speed chase
The Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a traffic incident in Winnsboro that has been reported as a high-speed chase.
Lt. Eric White, with the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office, wouldn’t release any details about the incident, which reportedly resulted in a fiery crash, but confirmed an investigation is ongoing.
According to published reports, the South Carolina Highway Patrol tried to stop a vehicle for speeding on Highway 321, near the Fairfield County line, shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. When the vehicle didn’t stop, a high-speed chase began.
According to WIS.com, a witness said she saw the vehicle in the chase crash into a gray Nissan Altima, which caused both cars to catch fire. She said she saw two men and one woman being taken from the scene by authorities.
No conditions have been released.
