Suspect armed with pepper spray robs bank, officials said

Deputies are searching for a suspect who used pepper spray during an armed robbery at a bank over the weekend, officials said.

A suspect walked into TD Bank, 10000 Two Notch Road, around 9 a.m. Saturday and demanded money, according to a news release from the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.

The suspect then allegedly sprayed three employees and stole cash, the release stated.

He then reportedly fled the business in a burgundy Chevrolet Trailblazer with a partial SC tag of “287.”

Officials said the vehicle was seen near Farrow Road and Wilson Boulevard in Blythewood after the incident.

The employees who were sprayed were treated on the scene by EMS.

The suspect was described as a 6-foot-tall white male in his mid-30s to early 40s weighing about 180 pounds.

He was wearing a windbreaker jacket, a black hat and dark sunglasses at the time of the incident, the release stated.
