Man taken to hospital, suspect detained following Friday shooting

Deputies responding to a shots fired call in the Kingswood area of Columbia Friday afternoon found a male victim that had been shot “multiple times,” Lt. Curtis Wilson of the Richland County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.

The victim, whose condition was not known early Friday evening, was found in the 2300 block of Apple Valley Road. He was taken to Palmetto Health Richland Memorial Hospital, Wilson said.

A male suspect was taken into custody, Wilson said.
