Man and woman sought in connection to 5-month long Lexington crime spree
Surveillance photographs of a man and woman believed responsible for as many as 8 theft crimes over the last 5 months were released Wednesday by the Lexington Police.
Convenience stores and one pharmacy, in and around Lexington, were targeted by the pair that authorities hope the public can identify.
The man and woman employ a distraction/theft MO. One of the pair distracts the clerk with a product question or, the most popular method recently, “ ‘dropping’ a glass bottle beverage thus requiring the clerk to step around to handle the incident while the male steals,” police spokesman Lt. Carroll Bledsoe said in an email.
The man is also a ‘person of interst’ in connection to a strong armed robbery and a burglary, Bledsoe said.
Both are described as African American between 30 and 40 years of age. The man is of stocky build with facial hair and has “a unique bald spot on the right front hairline.” The woman is described as always well dressed, of average to larger build with hair at or below her shoulders. They have fled the scene in a black or dark blue Dodge Charger or a dark grey Nissan Altima, the police said.
If anyone has any information on the identity of these persons or crimes they are urged to contact the Lexington Police Department at 803-359-6260, their local law enforcement agency or Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME SC.
