Officers searching area after man shot on North Main Street

Columbia police say a man was shot in the upper body just off North Main Street Thursday afternoon.

The shooting happened around 3:30 p.m. on the 5800 block of North Main Street, according to police. The male victim was shot in the upper body. Police say he was conscious and alert when EMS arrived.

There was no word on arrests. Detectives are canvassing the area and asking nearby residents for information.
