Woman accused of spending weekend, stealing food from school

Richland County Sheriff’s Deputies have arrested a woman they say spent the weekend inside a middle school and stole from the cafeteria.

The woman was charged with burglary and larceny.

Police say the woman entered Longleaf Middle School at 1160 Longreen Parkway on March 21 and asked for a drink of water.

“(The woman) did not leave the location and likely stayed at the school the entire weekend,” Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said. “(The woman)ate and stole food from the cafeteria.”

Sheriff Lott, who notified schools not to allow the woman into any facility regardless of the reason she gives, says the woman was involved in a similar incident earlier this year at the University of South Carolina, Sumter.

The woman was taken to Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center, Sheriff Lott said.
