Statement given in cold case probe

A man sought for questioning in a Richland County cold case has come forward and cooperated with investigators looking for a suspect in the August 2008 shooting death of Natasha Warren.

Earlier this week, police released footage from a convenience store security camera that showed the man inside the store at the same time as Warren. Police did not name him as a suspect but hoped he might have information that could help their investigation.

Warren was found shot to death the morning after her vehicle got a flat tire while she was driving to work the night shift at the main post office in downtown Columbia. She had parked her car on the Bush River Road exit ramp on I-26 and walked to the Sunoco gas station to use a pay phone.

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department continues to look for suspects. The man in the video gave a statement about his activities on the night of Warren’s death, the Sheriff’s Department said.

Anyone with information about the homicide is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (888) 274-6372.
