, Four Kershaw County residents were charged Thursday with manufacturing methamphetamine, Sheriff Jim Matthews said on Friday in a news release.

Brent Allen Richardson, 25, Jeffery Lewis Hopkins, 27, Donna Louise Bennett , 37, and Robin A. Ruotolo, 28, were charged after a two-week investigation.

Chemicals used in the manufacture of methamphetamine were discovered in a vehicle after a traffic stop in June, Matthews said. A followup search of the home where Bennett, Hopkins and Richardson live uncovered two one-pot meth labs as well as chemicals and other equipment used in making the illicit drug, Matthews said.

A hazardous materials squad was sent to the house to clean up the chemicals.

The two men and two women were being held at the Kershaw County Detention Center
