Two wounded in early Wednesday shooting along Two Notch Road

Two people were wounded early Wednesday morning after a shooting occurred near the Star Motel located near Two Notch Road, and Richland County sheriff’s deputies are searching for those responsible.

Sgt. Kevin Lawrence, a said the deputies were patrolling the area near the motel, which is located on Pine Belt Road, when they heard several gunshots come from an area close to the Belvedere neighborhood.

Lawrence said the deputies then observed two vehicles fleeing the area in the opposite direction and pass the motel. The deputies gave chase, but the two vehicles were able to get away.

After setting up a perimeter, K-9 units were able to track down two individuals in a vehicle who sustained gunshot wounds to the upper body.

Both were transported to a local hospital with non life threatening injuries. Lawrence said investigators do not have any suspects at this time or a motive for the shooting.
