Man accused of kidnapping woman from driveway arrested in Sumter
Sumter County officials have arrested a man who allegedly tried to kidnap a woman by jumping into her car.
Vincent Bradley, 31, of Dalzell, has been charged with kidnapping, according to Braden Bunch, a sheriff’s department spokesman.
Bradley kidnapped a woman Wednesday in the 400 block of Old Castle Street by jumping into her car and telling her “do not stop” or he would break her neck, according to an arrest warrant.
The woman told police Bradley ran up to her car as she was leaving her driveway to go to work, according to Bunch. Bradley jumped into the front passenger seat and threatened her.
The woman drove about six miles to a gas station in the 1000 block of Broad Street, and told Bradley she needed to get gas, Bunch said. The woman ran inside the business and called police.
Bradley left before police arrived, but officers with the Sumter Police Department arrested him when he returned to the gas station, Bunch said.
Bradley was taken to the Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center.
