Richland County deputies investigating shooting that left two wounded
Richland County sheriff’s deputies are investigating a shooting that broke out Wednesday evening that left two victims with gunshot wounds, according to department officials.
Sgt. Kevin Lawrence, a department spokesman, said sheriff’s deputies responded to the 9400 block of Wilson Boulevard near Killian Road at 6:30 p.m. to a call of a home invasion. When deputies arrived they learned that there was actually a fight that was occurring outside of one of the residences in the area.
Lawrence said several individuals were involved in a verbal altercation that turned physical. One of the individuals pulled out a gun and began firing several shots at the victim. The victim was shot in the upper body.
Another victim, who was sitting inside of their home on the couch, was struck in the lower body when one of the bullets when through the wall of their mobile home.
Both victims were transported to a local hospital where they were treated for non life threatening injuries.
Lawrence said investigators are still processing the scene and have detained one individual for questioning.
