A Red Bank homeowner discovered an armed burglar in her home on West Lake Drive around 9:30am Wednesday morning.

Exactly what happened in the encounter between the homeowner and burglar is still under investigation, Lexington County Sheriff’s Department spokesman John Allard said.

Authorities are hoping the public can help identify the man who allegedly stole jewelry and cash before fleeing the scene in a gray Ford Taurus sedan driver by a second man, a release from the sheriff’s department stated.

The homeowner described the burglar as an African American in his mid-20’s with a scar on the right side of his face. He weighed about 170 pounds, stood between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall and was last seen wearing blue jeans, a brown long-sleeved shirt and cargo boots.

A description of the driver of the get-away car was not available.
