A second suspect wanted in connection with the shooting death of a 17-year-old C.A. Johnson studnet was arrested early Saturday in Baltimore.

Jerimiah Amir Pough, 19, was arrested during a traffic stop on Interstate 95, Columbia police spokeswoman Jennifer Timmons said in a news release.

Pough is the second person facing murder charges in connection with the March 17 shooting death of Eric Washington at T.S. Martin Park. Jahmir Taylor, 19, has been charged with first-degree murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

According to police reports, Pough was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped for a headlight violation along I-95 southbound just before 2 a.m. Saturday, according to 1st Sgt. Glend McGuire, a spokesman for the Maryland Transportation Authority Police.

Officers identified Pough as a wanted suspect for homicide.

Upon further investigation at the stop, officers recovered two handguns, McGuire said. Pough is charged with possession of the weapons, as well as possession of marijuana and Xanax.

There were two other people in the vehicle with Pough who were not charged.

Pough is being held in Baltimore Central Booking. It was not yet known when he will be extradited to South Carolina.

Columbia police Chief Skip Holbrook has said Washington was in a dispute with two other individuals while playing basketball at T.S. Martin Park.

That night, another altercation broke out at 7:30 p.m. after Washington and the two suspects met to settle the earlier dispute. Holbrook said the suspects fired several shots at Washington, one fatally striking him in the head as he was seeking cover.

Washington was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to Richland County Coroner Gary Watts.

Pamela Dinkins, Washington’s mother, said her son was a senior at C.A. Johnson High School and was expected to graduate this May. He was in the National Guard and was going to go to basic training in July, she said.
