Columbia man charged with domestic violence after car crashes into house
Columbia Police believe what started as a domestic argument shortly after midnight led to a car crashing into a home in the wee hours of the night.
Carlos Alexander Brown, 33, was charged with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature on Thursday, the Columbia Police said in a news release.
Brown is accused of grabbing the steering wheel of the car he was riding in, causing the car to veer into a parked car and then careen into a house on the 400 block of Duke Avenue.
Police said Brown had assaulted the woman driving the car at a home about a mile away on the 4200 block of McQueen Street. The pair left that location and was driving down Duke Avenue when Brown allegedly grabbed the steering wheel.
Brown, the driver of the car and a 17-year-old who was asleep in the house at the time of the collision were taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Both the traffic division and special victims unit of the Columbia Police Department continue to investigate the case.
