SC teen dies after fall from truck in Walmart parking lot

A South Carolina teenager died after he fell from the bed of a pickup being driven by another teen in the parking lot of a Walmart store.

The incident happened around 2:40 a.m. Saturday at the Walmart on Sandifer Boulevard in Seneca, according to Oconee County Coroner Karl Addis. That’s just off U.S. 123, about 10 miles west of Clemson.

Levi Lynn Pinion, 16, of Walhalla, fell from the back of a moving pickup in the store’s parking lot, Addis said. He died about an hour later at Oconee Memorial Hospital from a head injury.

Troopers say a 15-year-old boy was driving the 2000 Chevrolet pickup when Pinion was ejected. Charges against the teen driver are pending.
