Lexington deputies search for suspect who fatally shot Columbia woman

LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC Lexington County deputies are looking for the person who shot and killed a 22-year-old Columbia woman inside an Irmo bar last summer.

Shirley McKenzie was shot and killed at the former Cockpit Bar and Grill at 214 Berryhill Road on June 7, 2014, accoridng to Sheriff Lewis McCarty.

The fatal shooting was reported around 4:30 a.m. on June 7, McCarty said. Deputies found McKenzie lying on the floor inside the bar.

“A number of people were inside the bar when McKenzie was fatally shot,” McCarty said.
