Bond set for Columbia man accused of distributing child pornography
A Columbia man is facing child pornography charges after investigators accused him of distributing “multiple files” of it.
Joseph Leroy Hewitt, 33, is being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center on 10 charges of sexual exploitation of a minor, second degree. Each charge can lead to up to 10 years in prison. His bond was set at $100,000, according to jail records.
A tip through the CyberTipline led investigators of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force to Hewitt, according to a news release by Attorney General Alan Wilson’s Office. Members of the task force, along with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department arrested Hewitt on Thursday, the release stated.
