This Midlands town will be conducting traffic checkpoints during Labor Day weekend

Labor Day travelers who make their way through the town of Lexington should keep safety in mind, since the police department is expected to conduct traffic checkpoints.

The Lexington Police Department announced Tuesday through a news release that officers will be checking driver’s licenses, vehicle registration and insurance requirements at the checkpoints starting Friday.

The checkpoints are in response to crashes, citizen complains and previous enforcement in the area focuses on speeding and unsafe driving practices, the release stated.
