Officials investigating threat made against Airport High School

Lexington deputies are investigating a threat made to do harm at Airport High School Tuesday afternoon.

Officials searched the buildings and grounds at Airport High School, but found no evidence that anyone had the ability to carry out a threat to do harm at the school, Sheriff Lewis McCarty said.

The treat to do harm was communicated in writing on a wall at the school, McCarty said.

A school resource officer received information about the threat about 11 a.m. Tuesday and immediately began conducting an investigation, McCarty said.

The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, Cayce Department of Public Safety, Springdale Police Department and the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) assisted in the search of the buildings and grounds, McCarty said.

Anyone with information about the threat should call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
