Florence County investigators arrested two individuals for drug trafficking charges after finding 2 pounds of marijuana at a home in Effingham on Wednesday.

Michael Nunn, a sheriff’s office spokesman, said Kyla Richelle Lawhon, 21, and Rickey Jamone Thomas, 26, have both been charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

Nunn said narcotics investigators were able to execute a search warrant at a residence located in the 5800 block of Stagecoach Road in Effingham after a lengthy undercover investigation.

Officers also seized a sum of cash, distribution tools and hash oil from the home.

Both Lawhon and Thomas were released from the Florence County Detention Center on $5,000 bonds. Nunn said the investigation is ongoing and additional charges are possible.
