One person dead after early morning shooting in Elgin

KERSHAW COUNTY, SC One person is dead after a shooting in Elgin early Saturday morning.

Few details were immediately available about the shooting that happened at a home on Juniper Road around 1:30 a.m., according to Kershaw County sheriff’s deputies.

Capt. Jack Rushing of the Sheriff’s Department said he could not say at this time whether the shooting was being investigated as a homicide.

The Kershaw County coroner has not yet released the victim’s identity.
