Have you seen him? Man accused of setting fire to his wife sought by authorities
Authorities are searching for a South Carolina man who is accused of pouring gasoline on his wife and setting her on fire.
A warrant for attempted murder has been issued for Charles Durell Nethercutt, 32, of Florence, said Maj. Michael Nunn, of the Florence County Sheriff’s Office in a news release on Tuesday.
Nethercutt allegedly set his wife on fire on Sept. 19 after an argument, Nunn said. His wife suffered severe burns “over a large portion of her body.” Investigators are treating the case a domestic violence incident.
WPDE ABC 15 identified Nethercutt’s wife as Amanda "Mandie" Brillhart Nethercutt.
Brillhart Nethercutt reportedly told first responders that her husband allegedly poured gasoline on her from the jug they used for the lawn mower and lit it, according to WPDE.
A friend has set up a GoFundMe account to help cover the costs of Brillhart Nethercutt’s medical expenses and the care of her 14-month-old.
Nethercutt, who remains on the lam, is identified as being 6-feet tall and weighing about 230 pounds. He has black hair, brown eyes and tattoos on both arms.
Anyone with information concerning Nethercutt’s whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 888-CRIME-SC.
