SC man arrested after shooting at wedding reception
A Little River man is charged with attempted murder after Horry County police said a man was shot during a weekend wedding reception in Longs, authorities said.
Chad Darrell Williams, 39, of Little River is charged with attempted murder, criminal domestic violence and failure to appear in court, according to records with J. Reuben Long Detention Center. Williams was being held Monday.
Horry County police were called about 8:45 p.m. Saturday to Dogwood Road for a shooting during a wedding reception where about 75 people were in attendance, according to a police report.
The victim, a 35-year-old man, was found on the ground next to a tree with a gunshot wound to his back and people in attendance at the reception were helping him, according to the report.
Horry County EMS took the victim to Grand Strand Medical Center for treatment. The victim was last listed in stable condition, but his condition was not released Monday, Horry County police Lt. Raul Denis said.
Detectives learned the men argued before the shooting, according to the report.
Williams was arrested a short time after the incident, Denis said.
