Sumter man charged after son slapped

The father of an 8-year-old Sumter boy was charged Tuesday with cruelty to children following an incident on March 19, 2015, at 6060 Brookland Drive in Sumter County, the sheriff’s department said in a news release.

Maliciously and unlawfully, Morly Paul. 37, “did slap the child multiple times causing bruising to the child’s face and eye,” the arrest warrant stated.
