A Columbia man was arrested Friday on attempted murder charges, after he was accused of stabbing a woman in the face and head with a knife.

Edward Earl Willis, 42, is also facing charges of possession of weapon during the commission of a violent crime. He is being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center without bond, according to jail records.

Willis is accused of stabbing a woman several times in the face and head with a knife during an argument at Allen Benedict Court before 5:30 a.m., on Thursday, according to a news release by the Columbia Police Department.

He fled the scene of the attack, but was arrested after investigators spotted his getaway vehicle in the area of River Drive and Margrave Road.

The woman, who was identified as an acquaintance, is still recovering from serious injuries at a local hospital, the release stated.
