Aiken deputies investigating fatal shooting of 16-year-old girl

Aiken County deputies are investigating the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old girl.

Deputies responding to a shooting in the 200 block of Diamond Street, which is located in the Beech Island area, around 9 p.m. Tuesday night, according to Captain Eric Abdullah.

Witnesses told deputies they heard a loud gunshot when a dark blue, four-door Honda Civic drove past them at a high speed.

Deputies found the 16-year-old girl lying on the ground and suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen, Abdullah said. The victim was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
