Hazardous materials specialists are cleaning up after Richland County sheriff’s deputies discovered a meth lab inside a public storage unit off Broad River Road.

“We’re cleaning it up,” sheriff’s department spokeswoman Lt. Curtis Wilson said of the site in the 3300 block of Broad River Road in northwestern Richland County.

The department got a call about a suspicious odor coming from the storage facility and responded just before noon, Wilson said.

There have been no arrests, Wilson said, but deputies are still investigating.
