A man walking on Greene Street late Friday night was hurt in a hit-and-run collision, Columbia police say.

A 21-year-old man was walking in the 2000 block of Greene Street in Five Points, near the University of South Carolina campus, around 11:30 p.m. Friday, police say.

The man was walking outside of the crosswalk when he was struck by a 2007 Chevy Tahoe driving west on Greene, toward campus.

The driver, 19-year-old Charles Thomas Jason, is accused of leaving the scene of the collision and going to a Lincoln Street residence, according to police.

The pedestrian was taken to a local hospital, where he continues to receive treatment for multiple skin injuries, police say.
