Richland County mom choked and assaulted 5-month-old daughter, police say
A 20-year-old Richland County woman hit her 5-month-old daughter in the face, choked her and threw her against a wall, according to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.
The incident happened around 12:30 p.m. Saturday in a home just west of Blythewood, police say. Jacklyn Sellers was arrested and will be charged with attempted murder, the Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.
Sellers then injured herself with a knife, according to the news release.
Both Sellers and the baby were transported to Palmetto Health Richland Hospital. The baby has serious injuries and has been placed in emergency protective custody.
Sellers will be transported to Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center when she is released from the hospital.
