A South Carolina man was arrested Sunday and faces multiple charges after threatening to blow up a Midlands church.

Tyronza Lardrome Rauch, 37, is charged with disturbance of religious worship and making a bomb threat, according to the Batesburg-Leesville Police Department.

The incident occurred at the end of Sunday’s service at First Baptist Church in Batesburg, police said. The church pastor told police that Rauch threatened to blow up the sanctuary before leaving the building.

According to the incident report, an officer saw a man, later identified as Rauch, a short distance away. When asked what was going on, Rauch told the officer “I have a headache and those people are in my church and will not leave me alone.”

Rauch is not a member of the First Baptist Church congregation, according to the police.

When the officer asked Rauch about his medication, he said, “I do not need it anymore,” according to the incident report.

Rauch was taken to the Lexington County Detention Center, where he was held on $300 bond.
