Pursuit of stolen vehicle causes collisions on busy Richland County roads
The driver of a stolen vehicle attempted to escape law enforcement Tuesday, causing a multiple-vehicle collision on a popular Midlands road.
A Columbia Police officer attempted to stop a stolen vehicle from Richland County on Farrow Road, police said.
The driver of the stolen vehicle didn’t stop, and crashed into at least three cars at the intersection of N. Main and Sunset Drive during the attempted getaway, according to the police.
After the collisions, Richland County Sheriff’s deputies located the stolen vehicle, which crashed on Clement Road, police said.
The suspect was arrested and transported to Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center, according to the police, which said charges are forthcoming.
At least one person was taken to an area hospital with a non-life threatening injury, police said.
