Gun, tablet, laptop among items stolen in Lexington from vehicle break-ins

Multiple items have been stolen from vehicles in Lexington during the last two weeks, the town police chief said Tuesday.

A law enforcement ballistic vest, helmets and a gun are among the items stolen from by several men who have been captured on video surveillance breaking into several vehicles in the Barr Lake and Vitner’s Wood neighborhoods in the Town of Lexington, a news release by the town’s police stated.

A law enforcement vehicle was among those that were broken into. The suspects tend to cover their faces and wear gloves during the break-ins.

Lextingon Police Chief Terrence Green warned citizens in a statement to keep their vehicles locked.

“With the holiday season comes opportunities for criminals to take advantage of those who leave Christmas gifts, weapons, keys, cash, and electronics in their vehicle to take,” Green said. “Seldom are car windows broken without something of value in view and more times than not, vehicles are left unlocked making it that much easier for crime to happen.”
