Suspect arrested after cutting man at Columbia’s Greyhound bus station

A man has been arrested by the Columbia Police Department after being accused of assaulting another man with a sharp object at a bus station in North Columbia.

Chuvalo Barringer, 48 is charged with Second Degree Assault and Battery, according to the police.

The incident occurred Tuesday morning at the Greyhound bus station, at 710 Buckner Road, police said. Barringer allegedly cut the man in the upper arm, causing a deep laceration.

The man who was cut was taken to an area hospital and received multiple stitches as a result of his injuries, according to police.

Barringer ran away but was found by a Richland County Sheriff’s Department deputy a short time later on Eisenhower Drive, police said.

After being transferred to CPD’s custody, Barringer was taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
