Columbia police charge man, Coroner IDs victim in deadly shooting at apartment complex
Columbia police have charged a man and identified a victim in connection with a fatal shooting an an apartment complex in a residential area north of downtown Tuesday night.
Curtis Isaiah Long, 24, has been charged with murder, attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, according to Jennifer Timmons, a department spokeswoman.
Long is accused of firing multiple rounds into the Bailey Street crowd and striking two people, Timmons said. More arrests are possible.
Richland County Coroner Gary Watts identified the woman who died following the shooting.
Sunshine Star Housey, 26, died as a result of a gunshot wound to the upper body, Watts said.
Housey leaves behind three children, all under the age of eight, Jennifer Timmons said.
A man was taken to a local hospital, Timmons said. He continues to receive treatment.
Officers were dispatched to the scene before 6 p.m. where they found a man and a woman shot. The department continues to investigate.
