Sumter County sheriff’s deputies searching for man wanted for attempted murder

The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office is requesting the public’s assistance in locating a suspect who is believed to be involved in a stabbing that occurred early Tuesday morning.

Jermaine Antonio Hodge, 32, of Mayesville, has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime after he allegedly stabbed someone.

According to reports, Hodge was outside of a residence located in the 30 block Oakview Drive in Sumter County at 2:15 a.m. and allegedly stabbed a man in the abdomen with a kitchen knife. The victim was transported to a local hospital to receive treatment for his wounds.

Sumter County authorities said Hodge’s was last seen at the incident location, but his permanent residence is located at 310 Wilson St. in Mayesville, S.C.

Hodge is described as a black male standing 5 foot 9 inches tall and weighs approximately 152 pounds. He has black, dreadlocked hair and brown eyes.
