Sumter authorities seek man, 24, in suspected arson

A 24-year-old man investigators believe intentionally burned down a house Thursday afternoon is being sought by the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

Brandon Cory Dowless faces arson charges after fire destroyed a home on the 4000 block of Livingwood Drive shortly after 6 p.m. Thursday. Dowless knows of the charges against him and is avoiding law enforcement, according to a Sheriff's Office news release.

Dowless is 5-foot-10, 155-pound white male, with black hair and blue eyes. Anyone any information about Dowless’ whereabouts is asked to call the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office at 803-426-2000, or CrimeStoppers at 803-436-2718.
