Dogs attack, maim elderly man walking on SC golf course
An elderly man walking on a South Carolina golf course Wednesday was attacked by two dogs.
The 65-year-old man was injured in the attack that occurred between 9 and 10 a.m. at the Links O’ Tryon Golf Course in Campobello, according to multiple reports.
The man reported being approached by two dogs who attacked him, according to greenvilleonline.com. The man was dragged by the dogs in a location near water and behind some houses along the golf course.
The man suffered significant injuries and bite marks but is expected to recover, according to multiple reports.
Greenville County deputies identified the animals as mix-breed dogs, foxcarolina.com reported. But they were described as pit bulls by Spartanburg County Environmental Enforcement Director Jamie Nelson, according to greenvilleonline.com.
Spartanburg County Animal Control captured the dogs, but because the incident occurred in Greenville County the dogs were transferred to the Greenville County Animal Control, goupstate.com reported.
The dogs were not chipped and didn’t have any tags, according to greenvilleonline.com. They are being classified as stray dogs.
“We’ve never had trouble like this at all,” said Marc Brady, a PGA Professional with Links O’Tryon, according to foxcarolina.com. “It’s over and done with, and we’ll go back to playing golf.”
