He shot and killed his sister’s boyfriend at a Columbia apartment, police say
Columbia police have charged a man in Saturday’s fatal shooting at an apartment complex.
Bobby Ray Robbins, 21, is charged with murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and failure to stop on police command, the Columbia Police Department said in a release Sunday.
Robbins is accused of shooting 26-year-old Jerome Palmer, of Bailey Street. Police say Palmer was the boyfriend of Robbins’ sister, and that Robbins shot Palmer during an argument.
Robbins was arrested moments after the shooting while running from the scene, police said. He refused to stop after multiple commands to do so.
Officers witnessed Robbins throw a handgun during his attempted escape, police said. The weapon was recovered and seized for evidence.
Robbins was placed in the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
