A woman told authorities she threw a bowl of warm grease on a man in self-defense after he allegedly punched her in the mouth and bit her, according to a police report.

Moses Lee Evans, 38, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with criminal domestic violence, according to jail records.

Myrtle Beach police were called about 9:20 a.m. Wednesday to a hotel at 1811 S. Ocean Blvd. where a 35-year-old victim reported the incident, authorities said.

The victim told police she and Evans had been arguing since about 4:30 a.m. that morning and that he told her that she and her kids had to leave.

The victim said Evans came back after arguing and leaving the room and Evans kicked in the door after she had locked it. The victim told police Evans came at her and snatched her purse from around her neck, authorities said.

Evans also allegedly scratched her chest while trying to grab her cellphone from her, police said. The victim told police she was trying to fight him off when he bit her hand and punched her in mouth, according to the report.

The victim said Evans let her go, but the couple continued to argue. She said Evans was coming at her when she grabbed a nearby bowl of warm grease and threw it on him, police said.

The victim said she then called the police, and Evans left the room.

When authorities caught up with Evans, he told them he was trying to get his clothes when the victim threw the grease on him, police said.
