Richland County sheriff’s deputies searching for one or multiple suspects after shooting leaves one man wounded
Richland County sheriff’s deputies are searching for one or multiple suspects involved in a late-night shooting Saturday that left one man wounded.
Sgt. Kevin Lawrence, a sheriff’s department spokesman, said sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a local hospital at 11:45 p.m. Saturday evening in reference to a male being treated for a gunshot wound. When deputies met with the victim, he told them that he was walking to his car in the 1800 block of Long Creek Drive when he heard several gunshots.
Lawrence said the victim told deputies that after he heard the gunshots he looked down and realized he had been struck in the lower body. The victim was then transported to a local hospital where he received treatment for non-life-threatening wounds.
Deputies returned to the scene of where the victim was shot and interviewed several witnesses who confirmed they too heard the gunshots, but they did not realize that someone had been struck.
If anyone has information regarding the shooting they are urged to call Crime Stoppers at 1 (888)-CRIME-SC.
