Richland County sheriff’s deputies are searching for multiple suspects that are responsible for an early Sunday morning shooting, sheriff’s department officials say.
Sgt. Kevin Lawrence, a department spokesman, said three women were driving in 1900 block of Joe Frazier Court when they turned their vehicle around to head back out on to Atlas Road. When the women driving back, they passed multiple subjects standing outside of a vehicle on the side of the road. As they passed, the women observed the subjects get into a four door sedan and begin to follow them.
Lawrence said the women then heard multiple gunshots from the subjects’ vehicle. The women said one of the bullets struck their tire causing it to go flat. The women were forced to pull over in the 2800 block of Shop Road, which was when the subjects’ vehicle then passed them. Lawrence said as the vehicle passed the women, several more gunshots were fired at the their vehicle hitting it a total of five times.
Lawrence said the subjects’ vehicle then fled the area and none of the women were wounded during the shooting.
