How to steal $3,240 worth of cigarettes? Midlands Circle K suspects did it this way
Two men are wanted for pulling a scam that resulted in them allegedly stealing thousands of dollars worth of cigarettes from a Lexington County convenience store.
The incident occurred on Jan. 15 at the Circle K on Bush River Road, according to the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department. The convenience store/gas station is near Exit 63, just off of I-20.
The scam worked by having one man cause a scene and distract the clerk, while the other man snatched the cigarettes, $3,240 worth of cigarettes, according to the sheriff’s department.
The first man went into the cooler, spilled a drink and pretended to fall, the sheriff’s department said. When the clerk went to help, the second man stole boxes of Newports.
