Multiple students have been suspended but no criminal charges filed after threatening comments were reported at Blythewood High School this week.

Administrators were tipped off Thursday afternoon by a student’s email reporting “overhearing threatening comments” by a “few students.” The school was deemed safe, but extra police were on campus Friday.

Officials have not alluded to the nature of the threats.

By Friday night, Richland County sheriff’s deputies determined there is “no credible threat to the school building, students or faculty,” officials said in a news release.

Deputies continue to investigate the comments that were made, and the students in question have been suspended pending the outcome of the investigation.

No criminal charges are pending at this time, deputies say.
