A patient threw water at Midlands hospital before she and boyfriend attacked doctor
A couple was arrested after attacking a doctor at a Midlands hospital on Jan. 27.
Kailil Graham, 20, was charged with third-degree assault and battery and an arrest warrant has been issued for his 22-year-old girlfriend Denaya Young, according to the Sumter Police Department.
The incident occurred at Palmetto Health Tuomey in Sumter, when Graham and Young visited the hospital, according to multiple reports.
After Young learned that results for an unspecified medical test were normal, Young threw a cup of ice water at the doctor, who told Young that she could not throw things, theitem.com reported.
Graham pushed the doctor, who pushed Graham back in response, according to wistv.com. Graham then attempted to punch the doctor in the face.
Young jumped on the doctor’s back and punched him in the face multiple times, theitem.com reported, adding the attack caused a cut on the doctor’s nose and redness and bruising to his face and head.
Graham was taken to Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center.
