Lexington County authorities say Gaston man’s death may be a result of ‘suspicious circumstances’

Lexington County investigators along with the coroner’s office and Gaston police officers are investigating the death of a man which appears to have happened under what officials say are suspicious circumstances.

Sheriff Jay Koon said sheriff’s deputies were responding to a residence located in the 100 block of Anderson Drive in Gaston on Monday at 10 p.m. in reference to a call to check on the well-being of a man inside the residence. When deputies arrived, they located the man who appeared to have been dead for several days.

Koon said the cause and manner of the man’s death is under investigation, but his death appears to have occurred as a result of suspicious circumstances. Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher ordered an autopsy to be performed Wednesday morning at 8:30 a.m. to determine the man’s identity and cause of death.

Investigators are pursuing leads concerning the identity of the person or persons who might be involved in the man’s death.

Anyone with information about the man or his death is asked to contact the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department at (803) 785-8230 or Crime Stoppers at 1 (888)-CRIME-SC.

Reach Cahill at (803) 771-8305.
