Former Anderson cop accused of sexual assault and misconduct
A former Anderson, SC, police officer was charged with assault and battery and misconduct Thursday over an alleged sexual assault on a woman March 16 that was captured on video.
Lawyer Delewis Scott II, 42, was arrested and charged by the State Law Enforcement Division on Thursday.
The arrest warrant stated that Scott, while acting as a officer of the Anderson Police Department, “ did intentionally commit battery upon the victim by unlawfully touching her private parts, buttocks, without her consent,” at 1107 N. Murray Ave., site of the Anderson Recreation Center.
In 2008, Scott was one of two deputies fired by the Anderson County Sheriff’s Department after allegations that they falsified time sheets while working as school resource officers. That charge of misconduct in office was dismissed 3 weeks later by an Anderson County magistrate who none-the-less ruled that there was probably casue that Scott had obtained money under false pretenses, The Independent Mail in Anderson reported.
