Richland County deputies search for suspect who fired several shots, critically wounded one
Richland County sheriff’s deputies are searching for a suspect they say is responsible for critically wounding man after a shooting broke out near Main Street Saturday evening.
Sgt. Kevin Lawrence, a department spokesman, said deputies responded to a location in the 10000 block of Garners Ferry Road in reference to a victim who had been wounded. When deputies arrived, they met with the victim who told them that he had been involved in a verbal altercation with an unknown suspect at 525 Main St.
Lawrence said the victim told deputies that during the altercation, the suspect brandished a pistol and fired several shots at the victim, striking him once in the upper body. Family members then transported the victim to the Garners Ferry Road location where law enforcement was notified.
The victim was transported to a local hospital where he is receiving treatment for his wounds and is in critical condition, Lawrence said.
