The Columbia Police Department is asking for the community’s help with a hit and run incident that occurred over the weekend near the Rosewood neighborhood.

The incident, involving a black Dodge Neon and a Vespa motor scooter, took place shortly before 9 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of South Beltline Boulevard and Rosewood Drive, department spokeswoman Jennifer Timmons said in a statement released Sunday.

The Dodge Neon was traveling westbound on Rosewood Drive when it turned left onto South Beltline and struck the front end of the Vespa heading eastbound on Rosewood causing the victim to suffer a broken leg, Timmons said. The suspect in the Neon then left the scene and was last seen driving towards Bluff Road on South Beltline Boulevard.

The vehicle should have damage on the passenger side, Timmons said.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
